Faith and Family Services Amendment again

Virtually every year since he has been in office, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has called for a "Faith and Family Services" Amendment to the Georgia Constitution, adding twelve words to the clause of the state constitution that reads “No money shall ever be taken from the public treasury, directly or indirectly, in aid of any church, sect, cult, or religious denomination or of any sectarian institution.”

Well, the good Governor is going to try again this year, having in years past fallen a few votes short of the 2/3 majority necessary to put the amendment on the ballot.  I've supported him every time, writing about it here, here, and here; there are others, but I can't find them on the web at the moment.

This year's effort hasn't yet attracted much attention, beyond this article, to which Howard Friedman calls our attention.  I'll be keeping an eye out for more coverage, and will post anything I find.  In addition, I plan to write yet again, to see if I can help this worhty effort overcome the obdurate resistance, above all, of the teachers' unions.
